The Gay Song

In my post about the latest Simpsons Treehouse of Horror I mistakenly forgot to include the fabulous “Gay Song” sang by Homer in the third act. How this slipped my mind I have no clue because it was the best moment of the show. Here it is, fresh from Youtube. Enjoy!

Murder, Zombies, and Musicals, D’oh!

simpsons4aThe Simpsons aired their annual Treehouse of Horror episode, with this being its 20th installment. I have to say, it was pretty great until the third act.

The first story was a take on “Dial M For Murder” told in black and white.  It involved Lisa being wronged by Ms. Hoover and then being tricked by Bart into exacting revenge upon her in exchange for killing Ms. Krabappel. What results are the murders of Skinner, Hoover, Krabappel, and eventually Bart. Very funny, but I found myself to be an even bigger wuss when it comes to gore than I thought as I physically flinched when one character would get stabbed. Sad!

Next we have Springfield being overrun by zombies after residents eat tainted Krusty burgers. The family boards themselves up and fend off the “munchers” until they are rescued by an ass kicking Apu.  It turns out Bart is the chosen one immune to the tainted food and they venture off to the safe zone.  In the end, the residents of Springfield can live happily ever after as long as they drink soup made from Bart’s bath water.  Disgusting, but if it ensures humankind’s survival, what can you really do?

Last up was a horror movie musical set in Moe’s Tavern. Homer dies in a freak accident and his blood ends up getting mixed into the beer, making it even tastier, causing residents to sing and be merry.  Marge is sad and drinks of her husband’s blood which makes her fall in love with Moe. It turns out Homer survived the accident, rises from the depths of the bar, and wins back Marge’s heart. This segment was prety meh, but clever in that it was presented as an actual musical put on by the town’s people.  And for all of you who heard Kang and Kodos were featured, they were, but as audience members at the play. Lame.

This Halloween special earns a personal 3/4 Squishies. Here’s hoping next year they do a take on Saw. They haven’t that one yet, right?
