Movies That Suck

New Moon opened Friday and unsurprisingly it made a shit load of money. On opening day alone the movie sucked up $72 million, beating out the previous one day record set by The Dark Knight (E online). Well isn’t that special. Expect even more money to be made by Sunday and watch out for the hoards of Edward and Jacob fans battling it out in the streets.  And remember, just because it’s popular and makes a ton of money doesn’t mean it’s good.

Show Me The Money

So it seems people are still going to the movies in November. Most of the number ones at the box office this fall have made around $30 million and didn’t really surprise anyone. Well, then along came 2012 last Friday and to my shock it made a cool $65 million in the U.S. and about $165 million worldwide. In one weekend. Not bad for a film about the complete and total destruction of the world and all mankind. Starring John Cusack no less! Whether or not the film is a piece of junk, those numbers are pretty damn impressive, especially in the fall. Usually disaster movies like this release during the summer and just make more money than God.

This Friday New Moon is unleashed upon the masses, much to the delight of fan girls everywhere. Let’s see if vampires and werewolves can rake in more money than the end of the world.
