So, for the last few episodes the gang on Days Of Our Lives has had the worst day ever, resulting in some of the best scenes this show has produced in months. Mickey Horton died throwing everyone into a spiral of grief, Anna was working for EJ the entire time in the kidnapping of poor baby Sidney, Bo slept with Carley, Hope called Carley a whore, Nicole had her trial, Vivian and Victor have upped their game of revenge and destruction, and Nathan and Melanie kissed!
So after all of that excitement and emotion I was expecting one hell of a funeral filled with the people of Salem and lots of touching speeches about Mickey. Well, yesterday that episode aired and I felt utterly cheated. First and foremost, there was no funeral! The episode started right after the funeral service had ended and all we got were scenes of everyone standing around, making chit chat and not really focusing on the core issue: the patriarch of the Horton clan had died! Sami and Lucas weren’t even at Maggie’s house for God’s sake.
There were some bright spots however. We did get a very nice series of flashbacks showing Mickey and Maggie together, Melissa came back briefly, Nathan looks good in a suit, Brady stopped the hit man from killing Ariana, and finally, FINALLY it was revealed that Melanie is Carley’s daughter, not Mia! This is so delicious because Vivian thinks Mia is the daughter, and I hate Mia so Vivian can do whatever the hell she wants to her.
I understand the budget for daytime production is tight, and they can’t do the grand group scenes like they used to, but for reals. They better go balls to the walls with the funeral when Alice dies or I’ll be more angry than Sami was when she found out that Nicole had faked her pregnancy and stolen her baby.
