Relationship Status: It’s Complicated

If the two leads of this movie were on Facebook, their relationship status would read It’s Complicated, which is the name of the movie! Oh Hollywood, you clever devil. In this movie, we watch Meryle Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin dabbling in affairs, divorce, sex, wine drinking, and pot smoking. Sound good? Because it is.

Streep and Baldwin play a divorced couple of ten years who have a drunken one night stand resulting in an under the radar affair for them to see if they want to get back together or not. Baldwin does, but Streep is unsure. There is also Steve Martin’s character of the dorky yet boyishly cute architect who tries woo Streep. Three kids and a very funny John Crasinski are along for the ride as well.

The movie was like a good wine, smooth and enjoyable from beginning to end. The humor and chemistry between Baldwin and Streep was fun and flirty, yet serious and filled with history. Baldwin was on as the randy middle aged man falling back in love and Streep proved once again that she is perfection. Hell, the woman got nominated for a Golden Globe for this movie. Steve Martin is easy to take, but his character seemed kind of boring compared to Streep’s adventurous and foxy personality. The real surprise was how hilarious John Crasinski was alongside the older cast. Him shot gunning a joint hit from Baldwin is one of the best images ever.

So if you’re into the cast or romantic comedies, you’ll pretty much have a good time watching all of the shenanigans and adventures in dating It’s Complicated has to offer. I for one love movies of this nature that star an older cast. That probably explains my obsession with Golden Girls. At any rate, his movie earns a robust 7/10 roasted chickens.

Cheesy Blasters

30Rock_3LAfter stocking up on wine and binging on my DVDs, I was finally ready for the premiere of 30 Rock. Or so I thought.  I had no idea what was to come in the premiere of the fourth season but what we got was hilarious from start to finish.  Oh, how I missed the clever one liners, wacky misunderstandings, Jack being the best asshole ever, Kenneth’s dorky charm and Tracy’s outrageous behavior.  Last night’s episode was filled with pages on strike, Liz and Pete being trapped in a secret non-love affair, Jenna going country and playing tennis, as well as a great jab at how this show has completely forgotten that Josh exists. Here’s to another piss your pants funny season! And guess what? A little bird told me Betty White is soon to be guest starring.  I want to go to there. Now.
